Large head refers to the diameter of the rivet, which is installed into the application. It is the part of the rivet which is seen after the rivet is installed or “set”. The term “large head” simply is a common phrase for describing the size of the rivet head. Each common US rivet diameters, 1/8″, 5/32″, 3/16″ and 1/4″ has their own respective “large head” size. The most common and available on the market are the 1/8″ and 3/16″ diameters as most applications utilize those two sizes for riveting solutions.
Lets review the sizes of the head diameters for the 1/8″ and the 3/16″ rivet body diameters. The 1/8″ rivet body diameter normally has a 1/4″ (.250) head size and the LARGE HEAD would be 3/8″ (.375). The 3/16″ diameter rivet body would have a 3/8″ regular head diameter and a 5/8″ (.625) LARGE HEAD size.
Why use the large head size? It does offer more surface contact and load bearing contact on the application. The large head size is commonly used where large panels of sheet metal, fiberglass, rubbers or plastics etc. are being fastened to some type of frame.
Large head exploding rivets made by aDP Rivet provide more application surface contact on BOTH sides of the application as the large back side pedals expand to about the same 5/8″ diameter, thus providing excellent surface contact and holding power.

Once there, be sure to review all the benefits, advantages provided by aDP Rivet products. Rivets are an easy to use fastener, and aDP Rivet makes rivets which outperform other brands and makes them even more user friendly by offering “one size rivets all” options. These “one size rivets all” provide a much wider working range and can replace up to six “other brand” rivet sizes. Blind rivets have been around for over 70 years and there’s many “me too” rivet available, however, there are very few new technology type rivets which have been introduced to the market in the past decade. This US manufacturer has and continues to lead by introducing new technology riveting products, and two versions of “one size rivets all” families of products.
