ATA case rivets made by US manufacturer
Reviews of ATA case rivets brings us to numerous suppliers of rivets, however, there are only a handful or less of actual rivet manufacturers here in the US. When riveting the hardware, brackets, corner pieces and handles to cases one may want to consider the quality and durability of the rivets.
There is one US manufacturer who makes their customer feedback public. aDP Rivet has been making rivets in New England for almost 20 years and it’s veteran team has enhanced the design and performance features of their rivets.
WHY these Ultimate Rivets last so long has a lot to do with HOW they work.
Unlike other, “me too rivets”, which are designed to clamp solely via their blind, or back side swelling action. Their swelling action pinches the application’s back side surface by about 9% more than the rivet’s diameter. For example, a 3/16″, (0.187″) diameter conventional “me too” rivet will swell about 9% to about 0.204 inches. Considering conventional “me too” rivets require a specific and limited application hole size of 0.192 to 0.196 inches. There isn’t a lot of room for error and if the common “over sized” hole issue occurs, the result is a loose clamp and popped nail sticking out the finish side of the “me too” rivet.
HOW Ultimate Rivets work is WHY their durability is far superior. Let’s stay with the same 3/16″ diameter example. An Ultimate Rivet will swell out in TWO directions, one being the backside pinching and the second being the internal or within the applications hole. PLUS the back side swelling is more than FOUR TIMES greater than conventional “me too” rivets. Typically, Ultimate Rivets back side swelling is 40% so a 0.187″ rivet will swell out to 0.262″ providing a blind side footprint which is about FOUR TIMES larger than conventional, me too rivets. In addition, Ultimate Rivets expand within the applications hole filling it completely around.
Ultimate Rivets do NOT require limited, or very specific application hole sizes as they will fill over sized holes, which is just one of the reasons they are very EASY TO USE. Visit the Ultimate Rivet page on www.adprivet.net for more information.
